
The origin of NIKKI
In 2015, our Founder, Ruud Dijkstra, set up a traditional debt collection agency. Yet he never really felt at home in the world of debt collection. The harsh tone, the lack of humanity... it didn't suit his character. Ruud wanted to create something that would leave the world a little better. He was looking for a way to really make a difference with his work.
A year later, a special opportunity arose. A football club called asking if we wanted to collect a hundred non-paying members. They themselves no longer knew how to reach these people. Ruud had doubts. Not about the problem, but about the approach. Because who are these people really? And why haven't they paid yet?
Instead of charging immediately, he suggested calling these members in person first, free of charge, to ask what was going on.
What happened then changed everything.
Most people had no idea they were doing something wrong. They had other appointments with trainers, forgot to unsubscribe, or their details were simply no longer accurate. Within a short time, 98 out of 100 members still paid. No threat, no extra costs, just genuine attention.
We called it social debt collection. And we decided to take a bigger approach.
Not an old model with a new look, but a completely new approach. We founded NIKKI: an organization that makes sports clubs financially healthier without losing the human aspect.
From exception to conviction
What started as a personal choice grew into a conviction.
We saw that the payment problems were often not unwillingness, but the result of confusion, hustle and bustle, or wrong timing. We learned how to not only achieve more results through empathy, technology and clear communication, but also restore relationships and regain trust.
We developed an accessible and scalable model that completely relieves sports clubs in their contribution collection and financial administration. We now work with hundreds of clubs, are a strategic partner of Sportlink (the market leader in membership administration) and serve hundreds of thousands of members with personal payment solutions.
Our mission became clear: Making the Dutch sports market financially healthy.


From origin to future
In recent years, we have continued to grow, and our course has also further sharpened.
We have established our core values: personal contact, unburdening, quality, social responsibility and innovation. Everything we build, launch or improve is dedicated to these values.
At the same time, we realized something else: we've been doing social debt collection for nine years, but we still compared ourselves to traditional debt collection agencies too often.
That time is over. Social debt collection is who we have been for nine years. Simply because it is arguably more effective and better suited to the world we want to live in at NIKKI.
NIKKI has gained momentum. Under the leadership of the new generation, the course has been sharpened, the organization has been structured and the ambition has increased. What started as a moral choice has grown into a clear identity: we are going to change the world.
Based on that conviction, new markets have also been tapped, the team has been further professionalized and today we are building an organization that, in addition to financial results, also creates social value. One person's dream has thus grown into a mission for many. And that mission is far from finished.
